Hi, I bought a preowned CX five 2018 all-wheel-drive about nine months ago. I’ve had it in the shop six times. When I’m driving at a slow speed suddenly the car will not give that smooth ride and gas mileage drops down to somewhere around 17 miles per gallon. No warning light comes on. You can only tell this is happening if you are a driver who tends to accelerate gradually from a stop and/or are keeping close watch on your mileage. I am not a two footed driver and this situation is ridiculous. My dealer, not who I bought the car from has been very nice. Grieco Mazda.

I have been in touch with Mazda corporate and there seems nothing can be done. They authorized dealer to check the brake lines and make sure nothing was gunned up.

for me this is an impossible situation. I like a smooth ride and decent gas mileage. Even, at least if the warning light came on but it doesn’t. And if you stop at an auto parts place where they’re happy to check your system it never shows up. But when you go to Mazda they say it shows up and they have to reset it. The charge is the running the diagnostic. Although I’ve only been charged half price one time. I can’t be the only one experiencing this. The very nice service manager tells me only little old ladies and young kids that race around hit the gas and the break at the same time. Apparently it only takes one time and then it’s set off. My last visit to the dealer they reset it the car was fine for 15 minutes and 20 minutes later it kicked off. I know I never hit the two pedals at the same time. This feature I believe has something to do with your smart braking system and would be great if they would just disable it. It’s an extra That Mazda provides but clearly something is wrong with the system. If anybody has any idea or is experiencing the same problem I’d like to know.

I have no idea what you are talking about vis-à-vis a "smooth ride", however, fuel economy sounds about correct. The thing about fuel economy is it rises and falls on a bell-curve, slower than optimal, or faster than optimal, and mileage will fall. What makes you think there is something wrong with your car?
