Default Mazda CX5 transmission service

I own a 2019 CX5 I have 50kmiles and I have made an appointment with Mazda dealer for transmission flush and fill. I have been a auto technician since 1972. I do not believe in lifetime transmission (with no service). Transmissions run hot and fluid turns into varnish. I guess when they say lifetime it means drive until it dies.

completely agree with Anjan. I also have a 2016 Ram 1500 with the eight speed ZF transmission. Chrysler claims it has lifetime fluid which is nonsense. I am having the fluid, filter and pan changed now at 98.2k miles. ZF (these are widely used on Porsche and BMW brands) recommends a shorter change out period.

I plan to change mine at 50k but not a flush just a pan drop and then probably do a splash and fill every 30k miles or so after that.

I bought my 2016 KE CX-5 2nd hand in October 2020.

I drained & refilled my transmission at the 80 & the 90k services. About 4 litres each time. Will do the same very very shortly @ the 100k service.

It does help I work for Mazda, my own labour is free & parts are cheap.

Gears wear. Lubrication breaks down. Only way to mitigate both of these is to keep the fluids reasonably fresh. I've never ignored a transmission, despite the manufacturer claims of "lifetime service." And so, across four different vehicles in the past 25yrs, I've generally done new transmission/diff fluids every ~50Kmi or so. Three of those cars were picked up used, at ~60-80Kmi or so, and one of the first things I did was to go through all of the fluids. Never had a trans/diff develop issues yet. IMO, modest use and fresher high-quality fluids are a part of that.

Preventive maintenance is a must. Where are the drain and fill plugs located on a 2019 mazda cx5 touring. Why does my information screen act weird at times. Thanks in advance.

2019 should have a 8mm allen key drain bung.

Fill point is via the tiny dipstick on the forward facing side of the trans, way down low below the air filter. Held in place by a 10mm head bolt.

Re your screen, it could be something as simple as a CMU software update, or as bad as faulty screen ( replaced a few )

You may want to ask your dealership for clarification on the flush. My understanding is that in order to flush these transmissions a special custom adapter needs to be used and dealerships do not do this.

Additional info can be had here. Change automatic transmission fluid? | Mazdas247
