Mazda Cx5 2018 issue with my liftgate . The liftgate open only 1 foot stop and beeps 3 times . I try the diagnostics the problem without scanner and google not easy . By experience problem is with the control or electric strut ,sensor ? I already remove negative battery cable same issue . It look like the system is in security mode and stop the gate ? . Any suggestions will be appreciated . Thanks .

 

So does it stay open or close everytime on its own?

 

Bad fuse and/or battery can cause this problem.
Check the fuse and load test the battery and replace it if it fails the load test.
Average OEM battery life on 2015 and later model vehicles is only 3-5 years.
If your battery is the original don't bother with the load test, it needs replacing.

 

Yup the battery is definitely a top contender. If the car isn't getting enough power to the liftgate it tends to cause the issues described by the OP.

 

Thanks for the answer . I did replace my battery same issue .Yes it stay open always at the same position and did not close see attachments .

 

After disconnecting the negative battery terminal did you follow the other steps?
If not, this is a pretty good video explaining what to do.
Can't say if it will fix your issue though.

 

Yes I did . Talk with dealer it maybe one of the strut $$$$$$$$ .

 

When the tailgate is partly open, can you open it completely by hand?

 

Yes I am able not really difficult to open but need more pressure to close .

 

And if it is completely open by hand, are you able to close it electrically with the push button?
