I currently own a 2024 CX-5 and do not like the buttons on the side of the fob (referring to the fobs that came with the vehicle). Is it possible to have an old style CX-5 key fob (with the buttons on the top) programmed to work with my vehicle?

 

I don't see it being possible. I would recommend getting a silicone case from Amazon or another website. It makes the key fob feel better and the buttons are a lot smoother and easier to feel.

 

The remote itself would run $80-110 each and a dealer would want
another $100 or so for reprogramming IF that would work.

The key fob on my 2022 is infuriating. I can't count how many times I've bent over and the panic alarm sounds (or the doors lock, or the hatch opens). Honestly, there is nothing good about the keyless entry on my car. You have to push the button to get in the vehicle. You have to push the button to get the hatch open. The hatch doesn't open far enough (I know its adjustable, but it highest setting isn't all the way up). And you have to use the app for remote start, then when you reach the car, and push the button on the door, the car shuts off. How have they not changed these things? Really annoying. That and don't get me started on the 15.1 gallon gas tank. Electric car range.

 

A silicon cover for the remote might help with that. I've occasionally had the same problem and the neighbors get ticked.
