Height of 2017+ cx-5 without antenna

Hello all. I've spent a lot of time researching the CX-5 and appreciate all the info I've found on this forum to date.

My issue: I live in a building with a very low clearance underground garage. I know the CX-5 body was updated in 2017+ and it's advertised height is 65.3". Can anyone tell me what the height is without the antenna?

I'm not sure if the 65.3" does or does not include the sharkfin antenna, which is removable, but I'd like to know before I go any further down this path. Thank you all very much.

I can't tell you the height of a 2017 but I believe that you're mistaken about the shark fin being removable. Sure, it comes off but it's not like you can just take it off and put it back on at a whim. besides, there's a hole for the wire to pass through in addition to the mounting holes. Don't forget about the roof rack.

Conrad,

Thanks for the note. Yes I realize the shark fin is not easily reattached. I'm considering removing it permanently. If it got the total height of the vehicle to 64.5" or lower it would fit in my garage. And I think I'd prefer that option to buying a lower to the ground SUV, like the Honda HR-V.

That's an awfully low garage. I'm short and even I would have to bend over to walk into that garage.

So that made me curious. The shark fin on my CX-5 appears to measure 2.75 inches high. Not precise, a little hard to get up there.

Maybe you could just deflate your tires before driving in? :)

So I measured as best I could without the antenna and got a little under 65.5, so the factory specs are most likely exact. I have the Touring with 17" wheels. I guess you could try lowering the car with coil overs which could get you up to 2-3" of lower height. Otherwise it won't fit. The Kia Seltos or VW Taos might be your best bet if you want to stay around the same size as the CX5.
