Headlights aimed too low

I have less than 2k on my 2017 CX-5 but it seemed to me the headlights are aimed too low. I didn't think too much about it, just slowing down more than I'd like not to overdrive them, but then my son drove it and complained about them. Has anyone else noted this? Does the dealership re-aim them for free? Mine seem to be overdriven at anything over about 40-45 mph. One can't always put the high beams on to compensate.

I'm not really sure about this, but I've noticed the same thing on our 2016 Mazda3 which doesn't throw light anywhere near as far as my 2006 Acura TL; I find myself wondering if there has been a change in headlight aiming standards due to so many oncoming drivers being blinded by the first generation of HID headlights.

Yes I thought about that too, that there might be rules for the newer lights, which are much brighter. But I do need to see farther than these lights are providing.

If in doubt go back to the dealer & ask them to check them.

The dealer service dept was able to raise the headlights aiming a little and they're much better now. I had one oncoming driver flash me when I just had the daytime running lights on, but no one flashed me after dark so guess it's not that bothersome and helps me see farther.

It's good to hear they can adjust them, I've noticed the same issues others have mentioned. I'll have my dealer take a look.

I had the dealer adjust mine on my 2021 Mazda 3, but it didn't make much difference with country driving at night. I need to see further ahead than these lights are giving me and it doesn't seem like anything can be done about it.

I'd take your car back again and get them to aim them higher. I doubt there's a limit to that adjustment.Am sure they'll try as it's a safety issue.

Service manager said he thought it was just the way Mazda is. They refuse to go beyond a certain height because of safety to OTHER drivers.
