EDT engine oil flush
 

I thought I'd share my experience I've had recently with a local garage EDT machine
if you've read my previous thread where I had my variable valve cam replaced due to excessive wear.
the garage I just went to, to get my cx5 serviced suggested that I should have an engine decontamination treatment
this machine once your oil is drained is connected to your engine and a warm fluid is flushed through clearing every bit of crap from the oil ways of the engine which is far better than the traditional engine flush. This machine runs for about 40 mins and at the end sucks all the fluid out and collects everything through it's new filter for every run
my engine is now clean like a brand new engine.
and on closer inspection of the edt filter with a torch looked like a glitter tube. Clear bits of my previous cam still stuck in the engine.
if your local garage offer this I would thoughly recommend it.

Unless there is a problem with the engine's design, such a service should literally never be necessary.

There are plenty of were sceptical but now positive feedbacks given from various car owners from vans to rangerover high spec models
my car is much smoother and accelerates quicker since having it done even after my v.v.cam was replaced and even better

What year is your CX and how many miles are on it?

Agreed, a wallet vacuum to be sure.

The diesel 2.2 in the CX-5 is not a strong engine. The material that the camshafts are made of is too soft, resulting in massive wear on the cams & the worn flakes of metal going round & round the engine, turning the engine oil to almost a grinding paste.

I can see the benefit of this process to clean up the 2.2 diesel engine.

Also, any engine that has missed a service or two or three that maybe starting to sludge up would benefit from this process too.

Does anyone have experience swapping Mazda 2016 cx5 engine in their backyard or home garage? If so, how high does the front end need to be off the ground?

Changing your oil at regular intervals should be all you need. I've had three different cars with over 200,000 miles on them still running fine with no overhauls. Getting rear ended in one and having a new driver center punch a tree took care of another. The last was traded.
