Question Turbo replacement

Hi,

I own a 2015 CX-5 2.2L Turbo Diesel. I took it for a service a while ago and they noticed a noise coming from the turbo. After paying an obscene amount (NZ$900) just to have them inspect the fault they said that the whole turbo needs replacing (NZ$5500). I forget exactly what they said was going in it (I only spoke to the receptionist so it was second hand information). My guess is that it is the cartridge. It is getting really noisy now and I'm waiting for it to go. I've got a bit of cash to look at getting it fixed and have been looking at OEM replacements and/or parts. Getting something from overseas seems way cheaper. I saw somwhere that is just selling the cartridges separately so I presume that just that can be replaced? Any advice on what the most cost effective solution is? We are looking at getting a new car anyway but I'd like to keep this as our second as it's not a bad car (until it seizes like others have...).

Cheers.

Don't wait for it to fail, you could end up with compete engine failure.

Good to know, thanks. I don't suppose there is a simple way of disabling it until I get it fixed?
