Default Deciding: ‘19 CX-5 GT or GT w/Premium

Hi All,

I’m currently deciding between a getting a 2019 CX-5 Grand Touring or a Grand Touring with the premium package. I would get most use out of the heads up display and ventilated seats, but while they’re nice to have features I’m not sure they’re worth it. I’m wondering if anybody has input either way?

Unrealated, I learned to drive on a red 1990 Rx-7 convertible. I’m very excited to get back into a Mazda!

Thank you

Welcome to the forum and back to the Mazda family.

The choice between trim levels is entirely personal. Look at both the options you like and the ones that you would rather not have and determine if the price difference warrants the upgrade. Only you can determine if it worth it.

When I bought my 19 Mazda3, I had to decide between the Preferred and Premium. The difference was about $2,000. I wanted the head up display and a few other minor features but I would rather not have leather and a sun roof. My preference is not typical. Most people prefer those options. When we looked at the CX-5 for my wife, we were debating between the Touring with an option package or the GT to match our needs.

I love the heads up display now that I have it. Ventilated seats are something I learned to like on my last car. I suggest you go for it. Likely not a huge difference in cost when you think about the amount of time you will have the car.

I also went with 2019 GT with premium package. Love the HUD and seats. I am planning to keep car though for long time, so that made it worth the extra cost for me. Good luck and hope you enjoy the car.

Thanks for all the input. I decided to go with the premium package. I should be picking up the car in next few days. Thanks again!

Congratulations. You will love it.

Time spent considering your options in advance is well spent.

We have a 2019 Grand Touring with premium package with includes HUD and ventilated seats... love the HUD but polarized sunglasses really affect the viability. Living in southern New Mexico the front seat air blowers are great during the summer... since we keep our vehicles seemly forever it was worth the extra upfront money!
