CX5 2016 - Infotainment Black Out !! TEST SCREEN
Hi everybody!! :)
Why im posting : I think i ****ed up something , taking the blame , and have an issue i hope charitable souls will help me with. Problem now : Screen is black, no nothing at car start, no rear-view camera. Why i did what i did below : Suddently today, the gps started to not show my position ( first time did that since ownership in 2016 ) I heard it might be gps antenna connector corrosion over time and in salty conditions. Before fiddling with connextion...i was advised to ''reset factory settings '' the Mazda Connect. What i did to get the black screen, now i need help :) : After no success with reseting factory settings , i wanted to reestablish the speed restriction setting to be able to use the screen at all speed, maybe expecting this would force the GPS to work again. So i did the combo Music, Mute , Favorite to access the Test Screen Then : 1/3 ) Did Del 20 sec. , then 11 & Enter https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.maz...829798a3d6.jpg 2/3 ) I pressed by accident the Reset Map maybe thinking it was related to the GPS map... https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.maz...37a5332c96.jpg 3/3 ) Then screen seems to lost signal and went : https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.maz...ab4e57d6e8.jpg Now it stays black all the time, what should i do guys and girls ? Things i have tried so far : Combo of reset buttons Back+Nav+Mute = did nothing Prey = did nothing Swear = did nothing Things i have not tried so far : Unplugging the battery ( would that help for sure ) Talk with Mazda dealer ( since Test Screen ) A BIG THANKS in advance for advices. You may have FUBARed it. I'd disconnect the battery for 30 mins or so and cross your fingers.

Phew!! you got very lucky.
GPS antenna + amp are located inside the dashboard, doubt very much it's corrosion. There's a Service Bulletin about showing wrong GPS location maybe it's for your model. Unfortunately dealer won't do it for free and only discount a few dollars for a new CMU replacement, YMMV, show them bulletin. Firmware in you CMU it's very old, the menu that got you in trouble it was removed years ago. Menu was great to remove the touch screen restriction while moving (SPEED TOGGLE). You could update to a newer firmware version at dealer because right now all download links have been taking down by Mazda, last option buy a used CMU from Ebay any CMU newer than yours would do, check off label year of manufacturing. |
