Default Body side moulding

Has anyone installed body side molding to protect from door dings? Mazda doesn't offer one. Something like this:

https://www.sportwing.com/FE7-CX5-Ma...SABEgIfvPD_BwE

Aesthetically not the most pleasing, but neither are door dings in Soul Red paint.

Funny thing was I was looking at these and thinking the same thing. Not sure if I will pull the plug, but would be interested to hear from others who have installed them.

I put those on my 6 pretty much out of the dealership. I have the machine grey and the color match was perfect. I don’t think it disturbs the look or lines of the car at all. At work I park in a deck and door dings are a fact of life; then COVID hit and I’ve only been in the deck 3 times since. Oh well.... No regrets.

Did you use this brand/supplier or something else? Any install issues?

Door dings are all too common where i live, parking stalls are pretty narrow and lots of pick-up around. So I worry abt that with a new car, esp this color..

Yup, used Sportwing. No issues at all. Used blue painter’s tape to make a straight guide line to install against and made sure the doors were clean and wax free. The directions were pretty straightforward.

Not on a Mazda, but I did install them on a 2010 Outback. They were a perfect color match and looked like a factory add on. I had a body shop install them at minimal cost, they had more hands and experience than me trying to do it alone. Luckily I now live in an area where I can avoid crowded parking lots and a town with mostly parallel parking.

Sportwing was quite helpful answering my pre-purchase questions and the guy installing my PPF said the kit and design looked nice. Just clean the surface with dish soap and alchocol to get all the wax off first. Allow a little gap at the door edges so you can install door edge guards if you don't already have them. Don't overlap the guards. Should have them early next week.
