Bad deal?
I turned down this offer because it seemed really bad. Am I correct or incorrect?
2015, AWD, Grand Touring w/Tech Owe $16500 on my trade in Offered $18200 on my trade in (I'd like $19,000) Dealer wouldn't budge on the MSRP so I'd be paying full price. Financing about $30K Bad deal? I want a CX-5, but don't want to give my trade in away! |
They will come down on the MSRP. Go to trucar.com or the internet or shop other dealers. They probably won't do much on the trade and I was lucky they came up $500 but I wanted $20,000. I am still a little pissed they gave me $19,500 on my 2013 sonata and its sitting on their lot of $24650!!

You should get $1700 or more off MSRP. Go to autotrader dot com and do a state wide search on the new car you want. Some will offer MSRP discounts up front. Print them out and take it to the local dealer and ask for price matching.
You will loose thousands if you try to trade in. You are much better off selling it yourself. I got $4,000 more than dealer offered. If you are strapped for cash, sell your car first, rent a car from Enterprise for a week (they deliver) and then buy from the dealer. You'll save a bundle. Always deal on the last days of the month. They are trying to meet their quotas and will deal. |
