I purchased a new 2016 Mazda CX-5 GT in May and I was curious as to how exactly the average speed mode calculated? I ask because I travel approximately 50 miles to and from work on the highway (avg speed 65-70)and maybe 4 miles is city/town miles. But when I start my vehicle the next morning it's telling my average speed is between 40-45 mph. Has anyone else seen or had this issue?

Is this option best by resetting it everyday?

 

Average speed is calculated anytime the engine is running. Even stopped at a red light. That 0 MPH is factored in. If the engine is running and the car is in gear drive or reverse, all of that counts.
