Default automatic braking

2023 Mazda CX-5 owner of about 10 months -
Is there any way to defeat or at least reduce the sensitivity of the safety braking?
I find it much more intrusive than providing safety for the driver.
My biggest problem is the maximum braking it applies in situations that is not called for.

Thanks in advance.

Is your car auto braking or just alerting you to brake in the guage cluster? You adjust the sensitivity of the alert in the car's settings.

Thanks - I must have missed it in settings. I'll go back and make the adjustment.

You are able to change the distance for the adaptive cruise control which also influences the automatic braking. But I don't think you can change the sensitivity of the Smart Brake Support and Smart City Brake Support (SCBS/SBS). At least I can't find it in the owners manual.

As I already answered your question in another forum, here also for the readers in this forum:
Defensive driving and keeping more distance reduces the number of times the automatic brake thinks it needs to intervene. It is not only safer but also saves on fuel costs.
In my CX-5 also purchased in 2023, the automatic brake has never had to intervene. Only when using the adaptive cruise control, light automatic braking is applied every now and then when the vehicle in front reduces speed.
