Any feature updates from 2019-2024 ?
My wife got a unsolicited written offer from the dealer for either a straight purchase or trade in on her 2019 CX-5, perfect condition and low miles.
Seems like a very strong offer $25,700.
Thing is she likes the 2019, and can see no compelling reason to trade it in, so took a pass.
I wish the pedestrian and small animal detection was as good as our son's BMW, it seems to only work occasionally on the CX5. Other than that, the HUD and ventilated seats and auto cruise are great features.
The Mazda website does not seem very useful in determining exactly what features the 2024 has, for example I could not find a description of the HUD.
So ARE there any differences (improvements) over the last 5 years?
update: Sales guy texted to say they now have some 2025 and there are cosmetic updates and a few improved features if we want to take a look.

That's actually a really good offer depending on the mileage and trim. The only things that have really changed over the last five years is the screen and just some quality assurance with things like the seats, sound deadening, etc.

Like Alexmed wrote, the changes are primarily seats, infotainment, some suspension changes. If you were to get a 2024 or 2025 you might also get i-stop and cylinder deactivation as some have it and some don't due to part shortages. I have a 2020 turbo and 2022 non turbo. There is a noticeable seat improvement from 2020 to 2022. The 2022 are slightly softer so you slide less when turning. The 2022 also seems to absorb road bumps better. Those aren't just opinions, they are documented changes in 2022 if you search with google. My 2022 also has a larger screen than the 2020. I think 2024 also returns some touch screen capability in some situations. I personally don't like touch screens but if that is something that interests you it might be worth a look.
Even with the price they gave you for your 2019, you are looking at $4k to $7K depending on trim level, plus applicable taxes/fees to upgrade to a 2024.
Is it worth the newer additions or upgrades?
The "improvements", some of which I would not want, would not be worth it to me to trade my 2020.
That said, trading a vehicle is totally dependent on how long one normally keeps a vehicle and how thick one's wallet is

Agreed if you are happy with the '19. The other benefit is you would have a 3/36k and 5/60k warranty again. If that matters to you. The larger infotainment screen is a big benefit to me, going from our 19 to the 21. Is yours a turbo? The 25,700 figure is really good IMHO as I recently ran my 21 GTR through Carvana and they offered 24,200. Mine has 27k on the clock.

The offer was actually $20k "as is" with hail damage (lots of small dents) and we have a check for $5700 from insurance to cover PDR which is where I came up with the total.Just to clarify. Non Turbo, highest trim level for non Turbo.
Keeping the car. Thanks for comments

Couple of things to add, I assumed it would have been more than $7k difference but did not sit down for a quote. Regarding warranty, we got the 10 year/100k Mazda warranty so that would not be part of the reason to trade, only 29k in 5 years.

I suppose if they figure they can PDR it for less than the $5700, but as far as our net to trade or sell to them it is still $25,700 in our favor. (i.e. take the check from Mazda add insurance payment = $25,700)..
