ALC in sound settings?
Does anyone know what the ALC slider in sound settings is for? It doesn’t seem to do anything when I change the settings. |
An amplifier with automatic level control (ALC) can help eliminate the audio volume problem posed by small speakers. ... As implemented in an amplifier like the MAX9756, ALC acts essentially like a limiter. It detects output signals above a set threshold, and reduces gain to keep the output below that threshold.

Thanks for the info. I assume, then, that sliding to the right increases sensitivity? |
Beats me; my "ancient" 2013 doesn't have that feature. Have you read the owners' manual?

Automatic Level Control (ALC) Automatic Level Control automatically adjusts audio volume and sound quality according to the speed of the vehicle. When the vehicle goes faster, volume increases. When the vehicle slows down, volume decreases.

Whereas below ALC just adjusts the volume.

Well being that my post was simply pulled off the Wikipedia site and grim_reapers is from MazdaConnect, I'd say his is the more accurate.

Taken directly from the owners manual for a GG/GY Mazda 6.
Automatic Level Control (ALC) The automatic level control is a feature that automatically adjusts audio volume and sound quality according to the vehicle speed. The volume increases in accordance with the increase in vehicle speed, and decreases as vehicle speed decreases. |
Taken directly from the owners manual for a 2012 Mazda CX-5
Type A Stereo Automatic Level Control (ALC) The automatic level control (ALC) changes the audio volume automatically according to the vehicle speed. The faster the vehicle speed, the higher the volume increases. ALC has ALC OFF and ALC LEVEL 1 to 7 modes. At ALC LEVEL 7, the amount that the volume can increase is at the maximum. Select the mode according to the driving conditions. Type B Stereo Automatic Level Control (ALC) The automatic level control is a feature that automatically adjusts audio volume and sound quality according to the vehicle speed. The volume increases in accordance with the increase in vehicle speed, and decreases as vehicle speed decreases. |
Thanks GR!
