Actual MPG's
Howarduk (and others) please post your average MPH as well as MPG, use info button on steering wheel to see. I've never gotten less than 28MPG as measured at the pump, got 34.8MPG on pure highway tankfuls while loaded and bikes on back. Mostly get either 29 or 30 in suburban driving. 2WD Auto, 13,000 miles, average MPH 36, average MPG 32.3 (per dash).
Unsure how to measure MPH. Highway mileage is similar to those posted by others. Around town I am currently averaging 16.7MPG (per dash) which is down from a Sept high of 17.2MPG. The dealer did not note anything of concern at my last oil change/inspection. However, after reading these fantastic mileage posts and, the main reason for owning this vehicle was FOR the fantastic mileage, I am, so far, very disappointed with my results. But, I am hopeful, that this situation can be rectified.
FWD Touring w/7800 miles.
After resetting the dash gauges and knocking out 33 city miles, I ended up with a very poor 14.1 mpg average. My next plan of action will be to add more air to the tires and, on my next fill-up, up the octane to 91. Will keep you posted.

FWD touring 14000 miles. Illinois flat roads.
My worst mpg was all city driving (ave 27 mph) with very cold weather and cold starts. The computer read 26mpg ave my pump actual was 24.8 mpg. My last fill up: ave 37 mph computer reading was 34.2 mpg ave. my actual was 31.5 mpg. Unless your tires are nearly flat I can't imagine the wide discrepency netween yours and most of the other forum members could be tire pressure, and I'm quite sure most of us are using regular grade gasoline.
I will admit that I drive as though I was playing a video game where the goal is mileage efficiency. I take easy starts, deccelerate into red lights and usually try to consolidate my daily road trips into a few, warmed-up drives as opposed to many cold starts (except for the example I gave above where I only got 24.8 mpg). I drive with the trip computer showing immediate mpg's and drive to keep that at an optimum while doing the speed limit, but rarely more. It's only fair that you judge your mpg's by comparing driving styles and conditions-traffic, terrain, and weather.
One of these days I'll try "driving hard" just to see how dramatically it changes my mpg's.
Good luck!

Hi everyone... I have had mine for 4 months. AWD Grand Touring. I love it! I have averaged 27 mpg over my 9500 miles. The computer is much more optimistic. I probably got 25 mpg using the pump readings. On a recent (highway) trip to PA I averaged 31 MPG on the computer over 400 miles - including driving in the mountains of I-84 through NY in the snow.
2014 CX-5 Touring AWD (2.5L 185 HP). Being driven for its 3rd tank of gas, mixed city and freeway, 1st and 2nd tank for slightly less than 26mpg. Not extremely impressed from what it's advertised for 24/30mpg (city/highway), but still happy better than from what I got on my previous 2000 Subaru Legacy AWD (<23mpg). Probably it is winter, and Seattle has lots of uphills. Hope it's getting better when the weather is warmer.

He got my mileage up to 26 MPG which is the highest I have ever seen it. However, he drove it back to the dealership and in between when he parked it and when they drove it back for me to pick up it was already back down to 24 MPG. By the time I got home (10 minutes later) it was back down to 22 MPG.
I am hoping there is a Class Action lawsuit or a recall or something at this point. I have no idea what to do next.
I live in Portland, Oregeon area. I bought my car at Herzog-Meier in Beaverton. I buy 87 octane fuel from Chevron.

I'm confused by all the low MPGs being reported.
I drive mostly city with some up and down hill (nothing extreme... just normal city hills in San Diego) and I averaged 29.1. After my car was serviced I think it got reset. It got down to 26 because I was doing almost all city driving, but is now back up to 28.5. If I go up to LA a bit more it'll continue to go up. I average 300+ miles a tank... though sometimes I fill up before getting too close to empty so it could probably be pushed a bit more.
I have a FWD Automatic Grand Touring. Don't drive lots as I work from home. At about 6,500 miles after 6 months of owning the vehicle.
