Mega miles are a great way to prove a product.

I recently hit 6000 miles, no problems so far.

 

Reached 4,000 miles as I also reached the 2 month marker. Still learning the personality of the auto transmission. This latest fill up has been the lowest MPG thus far, but the commutes lately have been slow and go.

Anyone else figure out a way to consistently fill your tank to approximately the same level each time? With my former Ridgeline, it was pretty straightforward, I could get a full tank at each fill up. With the CX-5, it seems to me to fill slower. almost like the vapor recirc lines are causing the fuel to back up into the fill neck too soon. Just wondering if I am crazy.

Seeing more of our fellow owners on the road lately. And it is receiving some good press as well.

Just had my 7.5K mile oil change/service at local Mazda dealership about a week ago. No warranty problems for them to fix, service appointment was smooth.

 

I finally reached my 30 MPG goal! I had a great tail wind heading west from Phoenix to LA and knew I had a chance when I saw 140 miles at the 3/4 mark. Final tally for that tank was 30.79 - yeah. That's at 75-80 MPH. Enjoyed driving the CX-5 all around Arizona.

 

6,000 miles FWD/Auto, pump measured (not dashboard): Just over 29 driving around town in non-mountainous Maryland. Full tanks of pure-highway 65-70 MPH cruise control while loaded up for vacation gave 34.8 MPG, twice. Dash has shown 32.3 for a month, did go up to 32.7 with a day of highway-only driving.

 

Dash now shows average of 32.4, it has been there for 2 months. Typical tank of mixed driving is 31 MPG using pump measurement. Pure highway is 34.8 MPG using pump measurement of full tanks on all-day 600 mile trips. Conservative driving but not fanatical, using normal acceleration but with coasting to stop (this vehicle coasts forever). Some hills, but no mountains. FWD Auto.

 

I'm at around 3,000 miles after about 4.5 months and averaging 29.1 mpg in mixed City/Highway in San Diego. Very happy with it!

 

I just reached 5,000 miles. I have taken my CX-5 touring model on two separate road trips one totaling 1,100 miles and another totaling 480 miles. On the longer trip I averaged 28.5 mpg and it was 90% 65mph or higher speed. On the shorter trip I averaged about 26.5 mpg with mostly highway and some mountains. From fuel up to fuel up on everyday usage I'm getting an average about 21 mpg. Sometimes less. It is the AWD model. MPG is not what I expected.

 

I feel that the fuel tank is too small. I'm usually getting less than 300 miles to a tank.

 

I'm surprised at your numbers. I go over 300 miles every tank, even on full city driving. The only time I don't is if I fill up when I have a quarter tank left. Maybe it's the way you drive or the mountains are more of your trip than you think?

I took some trips between San Diego and LA and my gauge moved from 29.1 to 29.5. I'm FWD auto Grand Touring by the way.
