2022 vs 2023 CX5
I have had the distinct pleasure or not of having had a new 2022 cx5 and now a 2023 . The 22 I broke in from 03 miles to over 20k miles in about 1.5 years - I traded it in for numerous reasons - mainly ...get ready - color, bose and paddle shifters . A costly decision ...however in certain states , If you trade in a car the tax you paid is deducted from the new cars tax - pretty nifty - So the big question ...are there other differences ? N/A to N/A with 19"s - ? The answer - ABSOLUTLEY - I had issues with the 22 not fully shifting into at a stop - and then clucking into 1st after rapid acceleration- Gone
on the 23 - like butter - , There definitly is a difference in the transmissions transition from gear to gear up and down - The 23 also has a notably more agressive and linear acceleration curve - even though Its not in " sport " mode . Also the suspension - less noise and a maked smoother ride - its different - It just seems more refined overall -in the driving aspect -I noticed it immediatly -Also in design the front grill was reduced in size and has less of a snout at the apex - Last - engine noise on start up - much less - and on the road - drives like a high end sports sedan - stable , agile , quick and quiet - very happy regardless of the cost to swap - Both were purchased with 03 miles on the ODO- The 22 was a Carbon Edition and 23 is a Premium - same engine / tires etc - If you have owned both - please share your experience - |
Thats an interesting perspective, thanks for sharing.
Mine would be apples to oranges as I went from a 22' Carbon to a 23' Turbo. For me the extra added features along with the different drive train, well its like driving a different car. For a the few things that don't feel different, I'd say seats, steering and suspension feel the same. To where I liked the Carbon better would only be the interior color setup. My all black interior feels claustrophobic. |

You are saying the grill is different between 22 and 23? They did the exterior revisions for '22. Nothing new for 23 or 24. Are you sure you had a 22 and not a 21? Were the tail lights the same on both cars (with the hockey stick shaped brake lights)? They also did a transmission revision and supposedly work on NVH on the drivetrain for 22 cars. It makes more sense that you had a 21 and went to a 23 from your description.

I have only owned the 2023 CX-5 in Premium plus trim, still own it, and plan on owning it for many more years. I am not aware of any changes from the 2022 to the 2023 in trim levels or in what is under the hood.

Interesting. I am not aware of any cosmetic changes after 22. They both have 19" wheels? (I believe the CE has 19's). It makes no sense one would "sit lower" than the other.

https://www.greenwaymazda.com/2023-m...22-mazda-cx-5/ the CE - not with the 23 premium - just saying - BTW - Hows the break-in going on the turbo ? is it jumpy or smooth - do you use premium fuel ? I suppose thats manditory on the turbo - curious - |
It was really not a big deal to break in. I am at 19k now. I have used both 87 and 93. I don't really appreciate a difference to be honest. Love the car though. Compared to my previous '19 GT the 2.5T is really nice. I can't tell the difference between them from the outside. I had exactly the same color combo on both cars.
