2022 CX5 Trunk Beeping/Will not properly close
Hello Mazda CX5 owners! I have been to the dealership 5x now and had the trunk latch replaced and new sensors and the trunk still continues to not latch at times which sets off a constant beep while driving. I keep making suggestions to the dealership and they keep saying they have no idea what is causing it. I stopped paying for parts after the initial trunk latch as I figured that was their quick fix to the problem, realizing it must be mechanical/sensory and even with new sensors, beeping persists. I have slight PTSD from this issue and should not be afraid of using my trunk! Anyone else have this issue and know what may be the problem to fix it? I asked them to try replacing the liftgate fuse chip and they say its not blown. Any support is appreciated!

Please post the service information naturally with your personal information redacted. Then either I or another qualified individual on this forum can perhaps better interpret what the service department actually did and what exactly was stated on the service order.
I will say suggesting a service department at a dealership what to do is much the same as suggestion your doctor what to do with a health issue. REALLY!
Agreed. We need a lot more info. What exactly is going on with the hatch? Is your car under warranty? Have you looked at another comparable CX-5 to make sure this isn't proper operation? If you aren't happy with the dealer you are using, do you have another in range which you could try?
Thank you for your reply. I am past warranty, 39k miles so none of this is covered unfortunately. First visit with beeping, they used trunk reset button and claimed it was fixed. Next time I used my trunk, an hour after departing the dealership the beeping persisted same day and I returned it to dealership where they claimed the trunk latch needed replacement. I agreed to pay the $700 and waited for the part to come in. After replacement, 2 weeks later the beeping presents itself. The trunk appears to not latch, which lights up my interior light, so I would not have the ability to close with the trunk button or the interior trunk button or through key fob. I would have to manually close it, the light goes off and beeping continues even though the trunk appears to be latched and closed. My son hit the reset button and we survived a few days before it started again, but I returned it to the dealership without the beeping. It sat there for a week and they said it duplicated once and they could not determine the cause. I seriously picked up my car on Friday and said I would bring it back on next beep rather than have it sit at your dealership as you occasionally check on the trunk. On Monday, the issue began and I dropped it back off. They determined it was pinched sensors due to the error code. I assumed it was sensory originally, so glad this was acknowledged. They replaced the sensors at no charge since I brought in Mazda NA customer service to be aware of this issue. A few weeks later I use my trunk again and the problem began. This time I could not reset the trunk and had to manually close it, but the beeping persisted. I left on vacation and had to use my trunk upon return and when it closed this time manually, the beeping stopped. I took it back to dealership and they preferred I return it beeping, so 4 days later, I brought it back in, which was today and they now have regional operations involved as they try to determine the cause. I have seen various things online, that I have asked if they have ruled out and apparently they have. I was just hoping someone else on this forum may have a CX5 with similar issue and had a resolution perhaps! Thanks for your time and efforts.

.... ROLMAO sorry but WOW!
Ok so did you read what I suggested? Sorry but this is one sided story at this point, and you are not a qualified or trained mechanic or automotive diagnostic technician at best maybe a very light DIY? Continuing to post what you think and what the cause and what you claim other said is not helpful to some of us to help you?
So my suggestion at this point is to find a independent service shop that employees an ASE mechanic or better a certified ASE Automotive Diagnostic Technician. That person will find the problem!!!!!!!
Otherwise, Good luck with your resolve!

I jokingly said PTSD but if your car constantly beeps while driving and you cannot make it stop, eventually you would go mad. My family cannot ride in the car with it. Joining this forum was a waste of my time and your comments are rude.
A couple of additional possibilities to look into:
- Check the alignment of the rear hatch, especially if the car has ever been hit from behind.
- Check the gas support struts to make sure they have equal pressure and not causing any minor lop-sided force during operation.
- Check all rubber gaskets/bumper stops around the hatch to make sure they are fully seated all the way around and not raised or sticking out anywhere, preventing full hatch closure.
