2021 CX5 random song play from USB
I have a Signature trim 2021 CX5 turbo. I have a USB thumb drive with 650+ songs, and the Infotainment system is set to random shuffle the songs. On long trips (500+ miles, 10+ hours of driving) I notice repeats of songs.
It replays songs far more frequently than you would expect. At 3 minutes per song, you have 32 hours of music. If it was purely random, I'd expect a few songs to be repeated, on average ever 15 or so hours. But I often hear the same song or songs repeated in a two hour driving shift. Granted, I can't drive for 10 hours without stopping for gas, coffee, etc. But it almost feels as if the randomizer is restarting every time the engine is shut down. What controls this? How can I get it to play a larger portion of my song collection? Thanks |
I use my old Samsung smartphone as a music player (USB connected) and the "random" program on that operates the exact same way.
I'm beginning to think most of these random play programmed devices use the same software. Even my old Sony carousel cd players would do the same thing on random play. If I don't want to hear any repeats on a long drive, I have to use play-all. And that only works if hit pause when stopping instead of shutting it down. |
I was thinking of renaming the files in a random order, say with a two letter file name like
CI_A Horse With No Name.mp3 Pq_Bridge Over Troubled Water; Simon and Garfunkel.mp3 ... It will lose three characters of the name being displayed, but at least I could control the order. Does anyone know if the Infotainment will restart at the same place after I stop for gas and coffee? |
