2019 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring Reserve Gas Milage

I bought my 2019 Mazda CX-5 GTR Turbo about a month ago, has about 1k miles on it now.

Since buying I've averaged about 20-21 miles per gallon, tried both 87 and 93 octane. Gas milage is suppose to be 22/27

I've read that there is a break in period, and also read there is not a break in period as their new motors.

(1) Does anyone know if there is a break in period, and I'd yes how long/far?
(2) Anyone else own the 2019 GTR and can share their experience with the gas milage?

I have a two-week-old 2019 Signature. Just filled it myself for the first time. According to the "Trip A", the average was 21.5 mpg. I have 350 miles on mine so far. The OM gives a short list of things to "not" do for the first 600 miles. Usual stuff like wide-open-throttle, towing, stuff like that. That's it, so I guess that 600 mile marker is the break-in period.

I'm at 4500mi. My commute is 95% highway and I'm seeing 27.0 - 27.5mpg over the last few tanks.

I replied to your question in the other thread but I’ll add some things here.

Break in is pretty simple. Drive normally but prudently. No jack rabbit starts. No racing. Etc. I have been running premium fuel in my NA 2.5 engine. It runs better in many ways. There have been some reports that owners experienced less fuel dilution with premium .

Maje sure your tires tires are inflated properly. I checked mine shortly after getting the car and they were low and not even.

Give it some time and you will see much better fuel economy numbers.

I have 2019 GTR. It just turned 600 miles. I've been getting anywhere from 23 to 25 mpg in normal (non highway) driving.

You dont have "sport" mode selected do you? That'll use more gas.

Responded to your question in my new owner thread, but as of now showing 26-27 mpg after 4 days of driving. 3 of which were highway and city commute drives. It will stabilize at around 1500 miles and you will get a feel for it. SPORT mode will knock this way down and while I do love it, in sport this car gets aggressive, so leave all the safety features TC, etc on.

So, am in the break in period--first 600 miles--- of a 2019 Signature. First tank of gas I used premium. Second tank I used 87 octane. Either one can be used per Mazda. Actually, the owners manual says to "use at least 87 octane" in the Signature. At highway speeds on a 160 mile trip last weekend with a few stop signs on the highways I was getting 33.8 mpg. There was a mixture of 87 and 91 octane gas in the car, but mostly 87 octane since I had just filled up. My combined mpg right now is 29 mpg. I live in suburban Minneapolis but no inner city so a few stop lights to work but no big, long traffic jams where I live so far.

Total mileage is always shown at the lower right(about 4 o'clock) just outside of the middle circular gauge.
