2017: Front end thump and side mirror failure
My 2017 is nearing 15,000 KM and the problems are beginning to pile up.
The issues aren't critical, but I am not impressed with the issues on a brand new vehicle. From past vehicles, these are the problems that I would expect around the 200k/10 year mark.
- Passenger side mirror failed at ~10k. It lost its range of motion, then would get stuck closed, or would slowly fold in from wind pressure at high way speeds. It was a bit embarrassing having to ask the passenger to stick their hand out the window to push the mirror back out.
- Front end started making noises at ~12k. It started with a thump while turning at low speeds (mainly when parking), but is now common with any turn/bump/acceleration/hill start. It seems like the CV or steering rack is going.
- Driver side mirror is failing similar to the passenger side.

Cant say I've seen any issues from these mirrors, apart from ones with auto-fold function, that people have physically turned in or out resulting in damage to the motor that does the folding. As long as there isn't any signs of damage/impact replacement under warranty isn't a issue.
Creaking noises from front lower control arm bushes have been an issue on KE & KF CX-5s. along with the coil spring rubbing on the strut bearing /upper mount.
Altho annoying, that's what the warranty is for.
