Bypass the dealer, complain direct to Mazda HQ. Hopefully they will take pity on you & replace it under goodwill. Seen it happen many times.

So I called today and Mazda corporate told me there is a TSB for this issue. So she called up the dealer and the dealer said as long as I meet the criteria under the TSB they'll replace it. I just cannot exceed 36K. I'm currently at 35,250, so I think I'll be okay until my appointment on the 29th.

I had the dealer inspect my steering wheel today and they agreed to replace the entire thing. They were very set on my mileage though. I really pushed it at 35,700 lol. I pick up the car tomorrow. I wonder if it will be the same exact steering wheel as before, or have the newer more matte leather steering wheel like the new ones have.

New steering wheel appears to use a stronger, more premium leather.

Glad it worked out. Yes, the new steering wheel indeed feels premium.

I have already put a steering wheel cover on it to preserve it, just in case. I also think now that its the same as before, just feels different because its new.
