Default 2016 oil level sensor...how does it work

Hello. I recently changed the oil on my 2016 cx-5. Unfortunatly I was sold the wrong filter which seemed to fit fine however I blew all the oil out of my car as soon as I turned it on. I did my usual drive around the block before realizing I had no oil in the car.

My question is why did I not receive any warning or error lights during my drive. shouldn't there have been a low oil pressure light or low oil level light? I drove for about 2 miles before a light "wrrrrrr" noise started right before I got back home and saw all the oil pooled on the floor of my garage.

Thanks,

Hmmm

So, you blew all the oil out at the beginning yet drove two miles and still had a pool of oil?

Nope.

Do you have anything worthwhile to say or just enjoy making yourself sound like a dousch bag. Read the post. I blew the oil out when started the car, drove AROUND the block hence ending where I started and saw the original pool. I didn't see the pool when I left because I was watching the backup screen while reversing out of my driveway. Also there is a plastic tray that lines the bottom of the engine bay (probably for aerodynamics) that caught oil and resulted in oil dripping and pooling under my car after I returned. Although that doesn't matter it just further points out the ignorance of you worthless comment.

I wasn't aware the CX-5 even had an oil level sensor; what makes you think it does?

Owners manual, page 7-26, engine oil warning...if there is no oil in the car there would be no oil pressure hence that light should have turned on. I'm wondering why it didn't; if there is some criteria that needs to be met or limitation to the device or if there are further problems that the sensor doesn't work but the car doesn't know it and isn't giving me a check engine light.

Also would that warning through a code? Can I hook up a code reader and find out if the error occurred but the light didn't turn on for some reason?

The comment may not have been meant to be hostile. That was also my first question as well. If the oil drained when you got back home it could have explained why you did not get a warning light.

The same thing happened to me in a car that I brought in for its first oil change at 1,000 miles. I was so upset that I could have seen myself saying it drained immediately when it happened 2 miles later. They are both immediate if you ask me.

As I reread your post I saw that you were clear in your statement. I still would have asked with the hope of finding an explanation for you.
