2016 Miles to Empty?
 

Hey guys, the wife and I are the proud new owners of a 2016 CX-5 Grand Touring FWD in Titanium Flash mica. It was a lease return and has just under 38,000 miles. So far we really like it. Despite having the same engine and transmission and being heavier, it feels so much better than my 2014 6 - probably because it has about 90,000 fewer miles... but I digress.

So we've gone through the first tank of gas and when fully filled the miles to empty range is 384 miles. This is about what it was when the dealer filled it for us earlier this week as well. That seems kinda low considering it has the same 14.8 gallon tank as my 6. Fully filled the 6 usually gives me a range in the mid-400s. I know it's more about the actual MPG you get, but to my wife (who is the primary driver) it's a bit of a psychological let-down, lol. Especially compared to the specs we were reading online before we made the purchase.

So my question is what is the average miles to empty range you get after filling the tank?

Mine will vary depending on my last tank's average mpg. This morning I filled the tank, it showed 30.5 mpg average and indicated 435 miles to empty.

The miles to empty can be extremely misleading. I believe it is based on recent driving habits. When I bought my Mazda 3 it had a number that was high enough that I thought I would be able to make it through the week without refueling. I really wanted to buy gas once a week. I have complaints on the other end as well. Even when I get down to 20 or so miles remaining, the tank takes far less than its capacity indicating that their is either a lot of air in the tank after a fill or fuel in the tank before the fill. I guess the question is "Do I feel Lucky".

The real question is how many miles do you get out of a tank and of course, how many miles are you getting per gallon.
