Default On a 2016 Mazda CX5 The Security Indicator Light

Hi I'm new to the Mazda forum - I'm not a "car guy" so heres my question where I need your assistance:
My question is time sensitive b/c my wife leaves in the morning (it's Monday night 9:15pm EST) as I am typing this question in Ft. Wayne. I need a response by 6:00 am Tuesday morning
I noticed the Security Indicator Light was blinking one and off (red) when I turned the car off.
+ Does the SEcurity Indicator Light always blink red (on & off) when you turn the engine off and I just didn't notice it?
+If not - is this something that I should make an appointment with the Mazda service dept to take a look at.
This is time sensitive as my wife leaves to go out of state early tomorrow driving.

Thank-you for your advice & support
Ric

This is normal activity. The blinking indicates that the security system is armed - the ignition disconnect is active and the alarm (if present) is ready to go.

I don't believe that the 2016s have an actual alarm system (test it out and see for yourself). The flashing red LED is normal and I believe that this indicates that the immobilizer is armed.

I believe an alarm system was available, but it was a special package item. I don't have one on my 2014 GT model. However, the 2014 owner's manual describes the Theft Deterrent System with an alarm.

The blinking is 100% normal.
