Hello All -

We have the airbag light flashing in our CX-5. Took it to the dealer and they said the sensor was bad and that the entire seat base assembly needed be replaced at a cost of 2,000. Anyone know if this is true? Seems like there has to be a way to replace the sensor..

Not sure the intentions of your dealer, they may have found other issues.
However, the air bag seat sensor can be replaced.
Mazda part# KE408811X $185.42

 

I got the estimate back yesterday. It looks like it is an occupancy sensor in the base of the seat, not the weight sensor in the seat itself. Ill take it apart this weekend and see if I can order a part. Otherwise you can by a whole new seat on ebay for like$400...
