2013 Mazda CX-5 read backup camera

I have a Mazda CX-5 with over 200,000 miles. The rear backup camera stopped working. When car is placed in reverse, the radio screen does not change. I checked all camera connections on the rear hatchback where the camera is mounted. Any ideas what could be wrong or what would be my next option to check?

If the screen is still working, then your fuse is okay.
You could try a reset and see if that works.
If it doesn't there are a whole host of issue that could come into play from wiring to bad camera.

When I put car in reverse the screen does not change from the radio or Toyota logo screen. Not sure how to diagnose? How would be the best way to check the camera? I do not want to purchase one to try because I cannot return. Do you think that it may be a software update issue? Thanks

Have you done a factory reset of the system?

From the radio console?

Do the back up lights come on when in reverse?

Yes. Both reverse lights come on when the shifter is in reverse.

If everything else is working on your display a reset isn't going to work as it's a camera or wiring issue.
There is service bulletin for this problem, water getting into the camera.
Check and see if your VIN# is part of the issue.

Ok. If my VIN falls into this category, what is my next step? Thanks

Your Mazda dealer "might" fix it free of charge, but you'll need to verify that.
Otherwise, you will need to have them repair it, or fix it yourself.
That could include replacing a faulty camera or wiring or both.
