Retrofit to MZD Connect System
I have recently bought a 2016 CX-3 with outdated maps. My last car had a head unit that allowed me to use Android Auto so I could use Waze or Google maps from my phone to display on the screen. Unfortunately I believe that Android Auto is not compatible with the present setup in my CX-3. Amazon sells a retrofit kit and I'm interested to know whether anyone has used one of these units and what success did they have. I could upgrade my present maps (which I believe are a TomTom system) but they will soon be out of date. Is there any other option I have? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
You can upgrade to Android auto & apple carplay. Mazda charges between $500 & $550.
You can buy the hardware yourself and install it yourself. ( you will need to visit Mazda for the software update first )

CMU software aka firmware.
If you book in with Mazda & tell them the screen keeps freezing & randomly re-boots then there is a Tech bulletin that covers the cost of the software update. ( free for life)
