Mazda BT 50 & Pickup TrucksWhile Mazda may not be known for their trucks, they have always produced quality reliable trucks for both hauling cargo, or simply crusing. BT 50
The manual windows in my 90 B2200 are kinda difficult to roll up and down. I can't imagine this being normal. With the age of this truck I bet some proper lubrication of the regulators will help.
Has anyone done this on B2200 and if so, do you have any pointers to make the job go well for me?
Take door panels off (I like a door panel clip removal tool for these). Maybe the toughest part is accessing the little horseshoe hook holding the window crank on, see YouTube for help on that. Once panels are off, I'd clean and lube the gears on the regulator (I use wheel bearing grease).
Also, spray some aerosol genuine silicone lube into the channels where the sides of the windows make contact; this is very helpful.
When I get in there to lube the regulators I’m gonna check the door structure and lock mechanism to see if it’s not too difficult to install universal lock actuators. Then install and alarm and keyless entry like this kit perhaps
Looks like the universal door lock actuators will not be too difficult to install. There’s a good position with good clearance. The two pictures show the basic position. First picture I’m holding the actuator in the position it will be in inside the door. The second picture I’m holding it inside where the actuator link is visible
What I have found out with our Mazda trucks and the hard to roll down windows is, that the window run channel is the culprit! Go to your Mazda dealer and get new window run channel and install it......you will thank me! What happens as the rubber ages, is that it shrinks and gets hard and non-pliable......this does 2 things......it grips the glass too much, and the run channel length gets shorter.......and therefore it doesn't fit the door frame (lengthwise) as it should!
I just did this to one of my neighbors/friends truck yesterday......the windows roll up and down like a new truck now! If you have a single cab truck, you can also buy new "Door Belt Weatherstrip" that is on the outside horizontal lip of the door.......your original ones are rock hard and they help scratch your glass every time you roll the window up or down!
Here are the pics of one of my trucks that I changed a while back......
Both of the window run channels, & the door belt weatherstrips.
If your window run channel is doing this in the rear upper corners......they are not letting your glass roll up and down as it should!
New door belt weatherstrips......
Bet you can't do this with an original door belt weatherstrip!!
10-4 MeB2000. Your right about the window run channels. For now I have lubricated them and it’s a big improvement. If it acts up I’ll look into replacements. Thanks for your advice and pictures
Darn, I forgot that I had mentioned the alarm and power door lock install. I would have taken more pics along the way. Anyway, it's all finished and works well. Key fob locks doors when arming and unlocks when disarming. I had to install relays but it was no big deal. Other features of the Viper type alarms are being utilized. They include horn honking and siren, parking lights flashing, led armed indicator on dash, auto lock and unlock when the ignition key is turned on or off and interior light comes on when disarming. When set to arm, it will trigger an alarm if the door is opened or if you bang on the body or windows a shock sensor triggers and alarm. I made sure not to set that sensor too sensitive to avoid nuisance false alarms. It will give a warning signal first and if you back off it will not trigger. But if you keep messing with it, it will trigger. The remote works from well over 100 ft away. Not a bad mod for $100.
One drawback. You know how the door lock will pop up when you close the door (unless you hold the handle up)? It wont do that anymore. So, if you push the **** down lock button down and just shut the door, it will stay locked. I think its because the aftermarket door lock actuator is causing resistance preventing the lock **** from coming all the way up. It comes up partially but not enough to reach the unlocked position. No biggie, just have spare keys if you happen to accidentally lock yourself out with the keys still in the truck.
