I have a 2000Mazda B4000. Recently has started to try to die when put in reverse. Will run very rough when backing out of drive, and will die if go very far in reverse. Any ideas where to start.....?

Was thinking that there may be some type of regulator that changes some setting when you put the car in reverse. Anyone got any ideas?

Check and make sure the intake air tube between the air cleaner housing and engine is not torn open. This is the flexible black rubber part. Engine torque twists the drivetrain in a different direction between forward and reverse gears and is maybe opening up a tear only in reverse and allowing unmetered air into the engine.
