Default Trans rebuild

Anybody have any luck with a B2000 transmission rebuild? The shops seem to want more than the truck is worth. Any rebuild or swap sources? I always heard manuals were easy to rebuild but they say hard to get parts and blah blah blah.

Somewhere between $600 and $800. Some with guarantees. Some not.

AFAIK, the transmission to the B2000 and the B2200 were the same

That's just a butt load of cash that I don't need to spend right now.
There used to be lots of guys working on these but they seem to have gone poof. Easier to fix my '71 Chevy than it is to fix an '86.

Replacing the throwout bearing should not cost that much IMO. For that much green, I would probably do the work myself.

Guys don't want to work right now when they can sit at home, do nothing, and get a weekly COVID unemployment paycheck. Good luck.

I would throw the new used tranny in there and see what it's like.....I have a truck that has a bad input shaft bearing and it works just fine, but when taking off in first and second gear, you get a dull noise that sounds like a bearing with a couple of ball bearings missing. Regardless, these transmissions are darned tough, and more than likely it will get you able to move the truck as needed for your move.......it's not hard to swap one out either......you can do it in a day or less.
