Default Should I turbo my B2200?

Okay, I feel at such a loss because mazdatruckin.com is down. On the plus side, I'm thinking about turbocharging my B2200. Anybody else here do this? Were you happy? If you had the chance to do it again, would you? Would you do it differently? I have fuel-injection. I might have at least two turbo manifolds. I believe one is from the MX-6GT 2.2 (turbo - F2T cylinder head). I don't know if it would bolt up. I doubt it, but I will investigate. I think I also may have a turbo exhaust from the mid 80's 626GT turbo which had the 8-valve head. Again, not sure if it would fit. Is there a turbo manifold that someone KNOWS for sure bolts to my current head?

I have a couple of IHI VJ turbos laying around that I think might work as well as a couple of turbo ECUs. I would have to cross reference which vehicles they are from but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I may have something compatible. Do I have to run a different ECU? I do not plan on increasing the boost. Is it possible to just go with bigger injectors? If so, what fits?

Talk to me.
Larry

So...... I was digging around in my shop and I found two IHI VJ-11s, one virtually new and one from a junkyard that I haven't really inspected yet. I also have two turbo exhaust manifolds for I believe the F2 heads. I matched it up to the one 8v head I have laying around for my truck thinking that I was going to eventually swap out my hydraulic self adjusting 8v head for the mechanical/manual adjusting head. My assumption is that it's better in case I turbocharge the motor. So, I think I have all the main, most important parts if I were to try to turbocharge my truck. I have three Mazda intercoolers, (RX-7, 323GT/GTX and MX-6GT) to choose from. I may even have a turbo ECU or two laying around. I will need to figure out how to run a coolant line to and from the turbo plus oil lines. I am hoping that my F2 motor has an aluminum oil pan. I think that would be easier to drill a hole and use AN fittings to create an oil return line. I have spare fuel injectors for my 323GT 1.6L DOHC turbo but I'm not sure if they are the same size or bigger than the current injectors in the truck being that it's a 2.2L and such.

So, if any of you have done this mod have some advise on steps that you were glad you did or things that you might do differently, I would sure like to hear from you!

I guess I have a steel oil pan. Therefore, I will probably go to the junkyard and try to get a spare that I can modify for the oil return such that it's ready to go minimizing down time on the conversion. I will probably source parts (as many as possible) and create a design strategy for running oil to and from the turbo, integrating the use of a large oil cooler, running coolant to the turbo, air intake configuration and designing a custom downpipe.

I also have a Miata transmission which I wish to swap the gear box portion in place of the stock gear box such that I have a taller 5th gear and should run about 300RPMs lower at highway speed saving some wear and tear on engine parts and hopefully helping gas mileage a little.

Interesting. I will look into this as one potential option for supplying the turbo with oil. Thanks!
