Are you dead set on a sbc? If you go the LS route I may be able to help out. We ran into these problems doing my 5.3 swap. I have a cnc plasma cutter and made my own motor mounts. I also made a frame support cross member that drops below the LS truck oil pan. And an alternator relocation bracket that gains about 5 or 6" of hood clearance.
