Oil pump seal B2200
I have replaced the seal on my oil pump three times in the last year and each time has left it spraying oil from the new seal as soon as I start the truck. I read a thread that mentioned the chain stores having awfully out of spec seals and I wanted to ask where I go to get the right made in Japan seals. Also, is there anything else that could be causing increased pressure that would burst seals? It all started with the valve cover gasket and now this one is leaking too. I suspect my rear main is next because previous owner already thought it was going bad.
When you replaced your head gasket, did you take any pictures? Are you positive that you used the correct B2200 head gasket? If you used a B2000 head gasket, it could restrict the oil flow to the rocker arm assembly and possibly increase oil pressure to other oil passageways throughout the engine block........but I doubt that would cause an oil seal to have enough increased oil pressure to cause a leak at it.
The B2200 engine block has a fixed size orifice in the top of the block, where the oil is directed upwards to the rocker assembly, and the correct head gasket for the B2200 engine block, just has a hole in it at that location. The B2000 engine block has no fixed orifice at the top of the block, and therefore uses a head gasket that has a much smaller oil hole in it (actually it has a metal disc there with a small fixed orifice in it) to control the amount of oil to the rocker assembly........so you can see how the wrong head gasket could cause oiling control issues for the rocker assembly, and the engine alike.
