my 88' mazda b2200 is making a weird noise

my 88' mazda b2200 jus recently started to make a weird high pitched noise and it seems like it is coming from the drivers side of the motor and toward the tranny, it kind of sounds like it is coming from the shields or whatever those are called that are over the headers.....any help would be much appreciated Thanks

RE: my 88' mazda b2200 is making a weird noise

Has the same problem in my truck. Mine was caused by an exhaust leak from loose nuts holding the cat to the exhaust(Not headers, unless custom.) To get to them I think you need to take off the heat shields(Was not an easy task.) I loosened the screws I could and broke the rest off. I had no intention of putting it back on because all it did was rattle. Once past all of that, you can get to the nuts very easily to tighten them. I have to tighten mine every few months, so new lockwashers would be a good thing to get because the old ones do not work due to excessive heat.

Hope this is what you are looking for.
