Default Motor swaps and performance upgrades

Hiya everyone,
Im new to my mazda, I have been around import performance for years previously building and drag racing honda's. I know the motor mods that can be done but what about motor swaps to achieve the same capabilities as if i did motor work. To my surprise my motor is carbed. Image the horror when i popped the hood and saw that. Im used to EFI. so here is my thought process.

1) Are there any other years that produce a higher hp motor thatis a direct bolt-in to what i have now?
2) Should i buy a used motor and have it rebuilt?
3) is there an EFI motor that will bolt into my current truck?

I'm not going to be lowing my truck alot i do plan on drag racing it tho. but dont want to go with a v6 or v8 swap. would like to keep it as drivable as possible.

If i can find a EFI motor to swap in that would be great as i can turbo it.

Your thoughts and opinions please.

Thanks in advance.

Rob

v8 are not as bad as they sound i have a 350 in my b2000 it is a blast i just drove it yesterday which was the first time since last may. it is way fun. it isnt squirrely at all it is stuck to the road. i am probaly pushing at least 350 hp. but i have high enough gears that it just moves. well if you have any questions just ask. laters

12 valve probes and 626 motors will fit, you have to use the motor mounts that are on the trucknow.

I also have a 91 b2200. I am wanting to put a rx-7 motor in. I have no idea where to get any info on doing this swap. I have seen it done before and would like to do it myself. I dont know if the trans in the truck would bolt up and function properly, or what all I would need to start. Is there a site out there that would give me all the specs that I would need or should I just go with a different motor? I dont want to put alot of money into the truck, I have found a junk yard that has 4 rx7's in the lot. They said that the motors are good and it would cost a grand total of $130 for the complete motor. Thats why I would like to do it. Any info will be greatly appreciated

on the 13b swap use some thing like an 86 TURBO TWO rx7 trans tomake itr all work. the efi can swap off the car into the truck but it will run a lot better off a carb. easier to tune rx7 efi is crazy. i had a tt 20b out of a cosmo in an 86 b2000 and it ran great. thats a fun swap to do

Thats what I would like to find is a turbo 2. I think it would be an fun project to do. I just want something that you dont see much anymore. Its been a long time since I have seen that kind of swap. The only real concern that I have is how to run the exhaust. I want to keep the looks of the truck as stock as possible. That way I can keep it a sleeper.

with the '86 mazda used the same motor in their turbo 626. also in '86-'87 they used the same compression pistonsso youjust need tofind a turbo 626 motor matching those years and buy the head and everything above it. in theory you should be able to use the fuel injection off the 626. there are other year turbo motors that match the b2000 but not with the same compression so you would have to change pistons or risk detonation. basically just more money. check these websites http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_F_engine
