So I took apart the switch today and learned a lot. First I have a 4 plug switch and also my point contacts are sitting up vertically unlike the pictures posted here. I also have more contact points than the three in the pix above…….more like 5 or 6. Anyway, got them all cleaned up, greased and put back together and they work perfectly now.

Putting the two halves back together was tricky. Since my point contact “blades” are horizontal, the headlight switch (plastic tab) needed to be in a specific spot between 2 of the copper “blades”. Had to disassemble a second time to align that tab and bend one contact blade back into position. Fitting that tab between the wrong blades makes your headlights stay on high beam in all positions. Ugh!!!

Other good news is that my steering wheel came off quite easily even though the shaft grease pretty much had turned to glue.

Thanks to All for your help, input and pictures.

That's good that you were able to repair your switch. I have installed floor mounted universal 3 wire
dimmer switches on several vehicles that had a big expensive combo switch like that. If your repair doesn't last (but I hope it will), you might want to consider doing the same. If the dimmer went out on either of my Mazdas, that's how I would repair it..
