Gen 4 to Gen 3 Bed swap? 1984 Mazda b2000
Hey everybody,
I've been digging and I can't seem to find an answer to this one:
I'm looking to replace the bed on my '84 b2000 and I found an '86 b2000 in great shape, but I'm not sure if the swap would work.
Both trucks are short cab, long bed, and the beds look super similar, but I'm just concerned that frame differences would mean the bolts don't line up correctly.
Has anybody run into this before, or have familiarity with the frame/bed differences? Thanks

Huh, I thought 79-84 was first gen.
Anyway, it's gonna be a big job. New exhaust that routes down the driver's side, new tank that rides behind the passenger, and you gotta modify the frame to receive the new tank.

Thanks for the tips! The '86 I saw got scooped up by someone else while I was considering it, but I'm seeing an '83 now that looks like it's in good shape. Same gen but the only thing that gives me pause is seeing that the gas cap is on the other side, I'll probably make the drive to check it out, and I already have to swap the exhaust on mine as well so I'll post an update if it works out.
