I got it done. The screws holding the old sender in were so corroded the phillips heads stripped out. I had to chisel them off to get the sender out of the tank. Luckily, grabbing the screw shanks with vice grips was successful in getting them out. Its all back together and working good now. The sock I ordered did not fit so I reused the old one which had fallen off the tube and was in the tank. I secured it on the new sender with zipties.
