Front Brakes

I have a 1991 Mazda b2200. The front brakes were locking up resulting in smoke coming out of the front wheels. I changed the brake calipers and the brake pads. It ran great for about a week, and now I am back to the brake pads being stuck. I also noticed that when I first changed the brake pads last week there was plenty of room to push the brake pedal to the floor, but now when I step on the brake pedal it barely goes down at all. I was told that the master cylinder had just been changed. Should I look at the brake lines next, or could the master cylinder be bad?

You need to shorten the power steering pushrod about 2mm, it's adjustable. Remove the master cylinder attaching nuts (don't loosen or remove the fluid lines) and gently pull the master cylinder towards the front of the truck a few inches. The power brake pushrod will be there, hold it and loosen the locknut, then adjust it like 2mm shorter so you'll have ome free play. I've had to do this with each new master cylinder, they all seem to be different depths. I measure the depth of the old one, then measure the new one and adjust the pushrod that amount. Then re-mount the MC.

If you don't have power brakes, then look for a similar pushrod adjustment in the pedal linkage.
