front axle shaft replacement 2600i 4wd
I am doing this right now, it is very aggrivating, the passenger side cv axletook me twice as long as the driver side because the passenger side was very hard to pull out of the differential.
I didn't have much of a problem with mine. The passenger side has a spline on it and it just pulls out of the differential. I bought remanufactured shafts for both passenger and driver side. IMO, the biggest pain was unbolting the steering knuckle to get the shaft out. Other than that, it wasn't bad. Suggestion: replace the inner seals so that you don't loose too much gear oil from the differential when you pull it. Not a hard job, though. Unbold the steering knuckle, slide the shaft out of the bearing, and give it a tug. It should just pop out of the right-side differential.
