Electrical Issue
 

I have a big electrical issue in my '84 B2000 and I was hoping someone could give me some insight as to how to fix it.

There is a small cable that runs between the positive battery cable and the one going to the starter. I'm not sure why it's not just directly connected but either way you cut it, every time I get a new cable, it burns up when I start the truck.
