2016 bt50 3.2 auto

ecu showing crank position sensor faulty
replace with new one as well as cam position sensor
had the ecu cheacked --all good

starting and idling fine

gearbox and anti skid warning lights come on while driving
changes up to 3rd gear (hard change)
doesnt change further
been to agents ---advised to change the ecu
check the wiring --all good

had the same problem about a year back which was resolved when the crank sensor was changed

any advice ??

Not really sure about your info and who checked your ECU? Also DTC are a starting point to diagnose a problem not a menu to start replacing unverified parts failure or problematic.

Start over.


First check the 3 main areas of the DTC and report what you find. This must be done with someone that knows how and where to look and has a scanning device directly connected to the OBDII diagnostic connector ... NO Bluetooth scanning programs/devices

 

The ECU is the least likely and most expensive part to fail. Are you using OE parts? Yes I fully agree get it diagnosed by a competent person who can also look at live data.

So.......was the Crank & Camshaft Position Sensors replaced a YEAR ago? If so........it is possible that they have failed again.......particularly if an aftermarket part was used instead of a genuine Mazda part.

While some of us don’t like aftermarket parts it should be better worded to state what brand parts you are using. Many Mazda parts have and still are manufactured from companies that also make aftermarket parts. As well Mazda has several different countries they get parts manufactured from and many are not Mazda owned but independent parts manufacturers.

The other thing ALL electrical parts will either work or not in the first accumulated 8 hours of operations otherwise they will go there engineered , designed and manufactured life expectancy. For automatic electrical parts contacting the supplier or better the manufacturer you can get better information on the expect life of a part.

Sorry but aftermarket parts get less than the best information on forums. If they were so bad service shops would loose customers constantly because the highest percentage in the USA use none OEM parts for customers vehicles.

The other point in fact is neither part was actually confirmed failed. Just because you change a part and it appears the problem was corrected does not mean is was. There is to much missing and unchecked servicing in this thread……

I rarely ever use OEM parts on my personal Mazda ( and my cost on Mazda parts is wholesale ) I also use whomever I know to have that best quality manufactured parts and what countries to avoid for parts no matter who manufactures them.

I don’t want to get in a debate, unless a member has a service shop and does on average at least $500 + a day purchasing parts for service work. This way I know that you know by way of experience about the OEM vs aftermarket parts industry.
We do close to 700 m-f every week. Mostly with NAPA, Parts Warehouse , NPW , Autozone wholesale to name a few.

 

Yes I fully agree with some poor quality parts usually fail quickly but the bigger issue I have is the inaccuracy of some parts. Thankfully most cars have adaptive learning and can tollerate them.Regarding who makes the parts some manufacturers don't make any of the parts for a car they just assemble them. My question is who then does the R&D?. I do love the amount of people who have no diagnostic skills and end up returning most of the parts they buy. I'd hate to have a spare parts business these days.

 

If not installed correctly the crank position sensor can easily be damaged and cause issues.

You would need to use a oscilloscope to correctly read the signals from both Cam & Crank sensors.
