Hi. I'm currently building an 86 B2000 with a Ford 351 Windsor and a T-5 manual transmission. Have a few pix of what I have done over the past few days. Just looking to see what else I might be able to get done while it's in progress. Any feedback or comments appreciated!

Nice!! Oh, that's going to be a beast for sure. Glad to see that you are staying with a 5-sp. At this stage, most convert for convenience.
It looks like some fancy footwork w/the headers to clear the steering too? (Tight and close.)
Only one question: Where does the radiator go? From the pics, it looks like the engine almost hangs out into the grill area now. Will you have to relocate to the front of the bulkhead?
What carb are you using? (OK, so I lied, 2 questions.)

Holley 650 and yes some mods are currently being done to accept a 4 cylinder mustang radiator. More pix when available. As far as the 5 speed conversion, yes I had to be different. Most do convert for convenience but I say that's gay! I have been fighting a lot of stuff but I have about got this damn thing done...Get some pix of burnouts n black marx too!!!!!!!!!!

did you have to change the oil pan to a rear sump?

v8xcab 04-05-2009 11:33 PM

Yes. I also removed the crossmember and am currently modifying it to contour the pan. I've got a few pix of the under carriage I'll post soon. All factory mounts and locations were kept from the truck to use with the ford drivetrain. (clearancing required in many spots!)

It is hard to tell from the pictures but the header looks really close to your brake line on the passenger side. Please make sure you leave plenty of clearance to avoid a very dangerous situation.

Everything has clearance except for the e-brake cable behind the driver's side header. I have posted a few extra photos of all the mounts in the original locations and the fitments they may have acquired. So far, so good!
