has anyone on here added an aftermarket oil pressure gauge to their truck??? i have a 1992 B2200 and i really want to put one on. and am not sure if i should run an analog one where it used actual oil pressure line to the gauge or try and run a digital one. please any info on this matter would be much appreciated. i do not like not actually knowing what my oil pressure is while driving. i do not trust dummy lights in dash. also my truck is still a carb truck not fuel injection.
If you do wind up installing a mechanical oil pressure gauge, then do yourself a favor and opt for the copper tubing to the gauge, not the plastic tubing......never did like those!

Choosing between analog and digital is a personal preference how your mind see and interpret the information. As a pilot I have trained my mind to see both of them. But I prefer analog to get a quick scaled reference points rather than the visualization in my mind.
As for mechanical or electric, I use to only do mechanical whenever possible because the gauge face scaling greater then with most electrical gauges. Now you can find some electrical gauges with more information for scaling.
Electrical has the ease of installation over mechanical gauges. So really boils down to personal preference.

What you are installing it in really has almost nothing to do with the gauge choice itself.
Neither one is necessarily easier then the other. Both will need a little electrical and mechanical experience to install and set up in the chosen location. Both may require an adapter and both will need to be tied into lighting.
This goes back to what I said and pick the gauge that best suit what you want to see.
BTW the term digital has to do with how its displayed.
You either have a digital or analog gauge. And then either mechanical with direct input tubes hoses or pipes or *electrical (*via sender)
There are even some variants to both having remote senders or combination of both adapters and senders all in one.

Probably the electrical......the sender for the idiot light would get removed (or use a tee fitting and keep it also) and the new sender for the gauge would install in the same location.....which is on the side of the passenger's side of the block. In the photo below, the factory Oil Pressure sender is to the right of the oil filter, but there is another port with a plug (I assume it is on the exit side of the oil filter) where you may be able to connect a sender (or oil gauge line fitting) after removing the plug......I have never added an oil gauge to these engines, but I have added aftermarket temp gauges before.
Well I ordered a dragon gauges electronic oil pressure gauge. I'm going to attempt to hook it up this week. Now I need to figure out best spot to install it. Might put it where the radio originally went.
