• Sometimes the truck idles fine when car is warmed up (after thermostat cycles). idle dips low then rises and catches the motor from stalling. Usually I just have to keep tapping the gas at a stop or while slowing down in neutral.
• When thermostat temp is between hot and cold, like if I let it sit for an hour or two after a drive, or I drive off before it gets up to temp, no idle.
• Whenever the car is fully warm, idle is around 900 rpm then rises to 1500rpm if i’m at a long light.
• sometimes I have zero issues at all, but usually the truck has a super rough idle when coming to a stop (especially when it is very cold out) so I have to keep tapping the gas while braking or stopped.

i have a brand new fuel pump (yes I put in the cam spacer), and have inspected all of the vacuum and fuel lines for any leakage. Could have missed something though. I have the complete stock setup right now, I mean EVERYTHING. Just changed the points, plugs, wires, timing belt, tensioners, getting good voltage from batt/alternator. Any input? I can live with the constant gas-tapping but it’s pretty annoying.

 

Update: i cleaned out the EGR valve and now the truck idles well after warming up a little. still has some issues when in between warm and cold, except when the choke/high idle kicks on first start of the day.
