Mazda BT 50 & Pickup TrucksWhile Mazda may not be known for their trucks, they have always produced quality reliable trucks for both hauling cargo, or simply crusing. BT 50
I recently fixed my truck this winter and I've had it tuned 6° BTDC for smog, it barely passed, now I'm looking for power.
I have it at 7° BTDC now and it sounds a little bit better, should I change the timing or keep it as is? I have a weber on it but I have to use the stock air filter for smog. F2 engine.
Mazda Mitch advises in his FAQ section (http://mazdaminitruckin.com/faq/): Q. What degree should the timing be set at?
A. 6 degrees BTDC is what they come from factory set at.
If you want more power, increase it to 10-12.
If you run a weber carb, increase it to 10-14.
I would not go any higher than 14.
This is best done with an inductive timing light. https://www.facebook.com/groups/mazdaminitrucking
