1987 mazda b2200 help please
 

i just bought a 87 mazda b2200 all it seemed to have needed was a clutch... ive replaced the clutch and began driving the truck now it idles ruff and cuts off wont stay running started running real bad on some hilly roads so i stoped and poped the hood and manifold was glowing hot so got home and had the whole exhaust manifold back replaced (now backfires very loudly in between gears and after reving motor) still not runnng right no power at all spits and sputters mostly after warmed up i replaced air filter fuel filter spark plugs wires dist. cap rotor button, but it runs so bad after warming up its pretty much undriveable, what else should i do? i know nuthing at all about mazdas so please give me some advice (has alot of oil everywhere on motor... i think from valve cover but not sure)

For the backfire check the vacuum hoses make sure there all connected and have no cracks. as far as the oil issue check the PCV valve make sure it's not plugged up and has suction also make sure the PCV hose is not cracked and fits good and who did the clutch was everything put back in place? Check on www.mazdatruckin.com for the vacuum diagram much better then the one on the hood. Good luck!

It sounds like you're running way lean.
A lean condition will cause excessive heat and backfires.
You may even notice a horsepower increase.
This will bring an untimely death to your motor.

The carb may have a plugged jet.

i did bump the timing up a little bit to see if it was maybe running ritch and lighting all the gas it didnt burn during accleration but then that didnt fix anything so i moved it back down...it was only for a short amount of time but it didnt help the backfire.. i think its a carb issue or a vacum issue idk yet though ive kinda learnde if i feather the gas during breaking it wont backfire... ive looked at weber carbs but theres like 5 kind to choose from i want one good on gas but still help it out a little bit i dont expect this thing to be a race car whats a good choice ? thanks for your help...

If the main converter is missing or gutted it will backfire on decel.
